Aptos Solar Panels are Made in Vietnam

Aptos Solar Technology is a privately held solar panel manufacturer based in Santa Clara, California, right in the heart of Silicon Valley. Although relatively new to the solar industry, Aptos Solar Technology has increased its capacity by 1000% since 2020 to support the market demand for its high-performance, all-black (BoB) solar panels.

Aptos BoB panels are produced in fully automated production facilities in Asia and Australia with a 7GW annual capacity. These state-of-the-art facilities adhere to stringent quality control checks throughout the manufacturing process, earning both ISO 9001 & 14001 certifications.

Aptos has partnered with Renewable Energy Testing Center (RETC), a provider of third-party quality assurance testing. In fact, Aptos Solar Technology panels meet such high standards that they created their own, 3X IEC Standard quality testing. In short, Aptos panels undergo third party testing which demands three times or 300% more stringent than baseline standards set by the International Electromechanical Commission (IEC)

Aptos Solar panels by the numbers

Aptos Solar Technology offers several solar panels, all perfectly suited for completely off grid systems, as well as more common grid-tied systems.

All of these panels feature bifacial monocrystalline solar cells. Bifacial 400W Aptos Solar from DNA Half-cut Cell Series panel create up to 30% more energy than monofacial modules. We will provide some information on several Aptos Solar panel models but will focus on the Aptos Solar 400W Solar Panel 144 cell DNA-144-BF26-400W BIFACIAL BOB, the model most likely to be found in the Texas residential solar market.

Aptos 144 Cell DNA-144-BF26-400W BIFACIAL BOB

The DNA-144-BF26-400W BIFACIAL Black module has a power max output of 400 W. These all black monocrystalline modules create a pristine aesthetic, very modern, sleek solar display on your roof. Renewable Energy Testing Center, an independent third party testing lab, found DNA 144 400W models to test a, or above their reported electrical output. Some panels tested produced as much as 3% over their reported rating. Some 400 watt rated panels tested near or at 412W production potential level. This is especially encouraging not only for overall electricity production but when taking future rates of degradation into account.

For those Texans who routinely brave storms with high winds, this may be a panel to consider. The Aptos DNA 144 series solar panels are rated up to an impressive, 175 mph wind load! And also performs very well in shaded conditions.

The DNA-144-BF26-400W BIFACIAL Black reports a rate of degradation guaranteed not to exceed0.55% annually, with 85.1% capacity guaranteed after 25 years.

Aptos Solar Panels Efficiency

The Aptos Technology DNA-144-BF Solar module’s efficiency ratings range between 19.38% and 19.88%, ranking them on the higher end of average solar panel efficiency. This achievement occurs via implementation of their patented DNA cell technology. Aptos uses thinner bus bars taking less space from the actual solar cells. This results in a rate of failure at less than 0.01%.

Aptos Power Tolerance Rating

Power tolerance refers to the amount of electricity a panel will produce either above or below its rated power capacity, at Standard Test Conditions (STC). The smaller the power tolerance deviation or range, the more accurate the rated power capacity is.

Aptos Solar panels have a power tolerance of -0/+3%.

This means Aptos panels will, at a minimum, operate at their rated capacity. However, these panels have exceeded their rated capacity by as much as 3%.

For example, an Aptos Solar panel rated at 400 W will have an operational output ranging from 400 W to 412 W (or 3% higher than 400) under STC.

With a -0% tolerance rating, the AptosDNA-144-BF26-400W (BoB) panel operates at or above 400 W. These performance scores, coupled with Aptos’s stringent, 3x manufacturing standards, will result in continued real world performance under Texas' most extreme operating conditions.

Aptos Temperature Coefficient

Solar panels perform best at 77°F (25°C). Here in Texas, obviously, we see temperatures that far exceed 77°F for long portions of the year. A solar panel’s temperature coefficient is a measurement indicating how well a specific model of solar panel will perform outside of ideal operating conditions.

Knowing a panel’s temperature coefficient and the temperature of the panel will allow you to predict your panel’s performance during the dog days of summer.

Temperature coefficients are calculated in Celsius.

With each degree above 25° C /77° F, a given solar panel’s electric output will be diminished by its temperature coefficient.

Using the above methodology, the AptosDNA-144-BF26-400W (BoB) panel has a temperature coefficient of -0.31%/°C. Hence, when this panel’s temperature increases by one degree, from 25°C to 26°C (77° F to 79° F), expect a 0.31% reduction in potential electric output.

When it's July in Texas and temperatures have climbed to 95° F/35° C, expect electric output to decrease by 3.1%. When the hottest hours of the summer drives the mercury into the triple digits, say 113° F/ 45° C, the AptosDNA-144-BF26-400W (BoB) will decrease approximately 6.2%.

Aptos Solar Panels Performance Testing

Aptos Solar goes the extra mile to ensure they are putting the highest quality solar products on the market. To meet these standards, Aptos created and adopted the3X IEC Standard quality testing.

Aptos panels undergo testing three times (300%) that of the baseline standards established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Each Aptos Solar Panel is built to withstand

• Thermal cycling: The IEC baseline testing standards require continuous thermal cycling between 185F and -40F for200 cycles. APTOS panels are tested for 600 cycles!
• Humidity freeze: The IEC baseline testing standards require modules to pass through 10 cycles at the same temperature extremes (185 to-40°F), however with humidity varying from 85% at 185°F to 0% control at -40°F.

Aptos has set their minimum baseline standard at 30 cycles!

• Damp heat endurance: The IEC baseline testing standards require solar panels to spend 1000 hours at 185°F with 85% humidity
