Tax Incentives and Rebates for Texas Home Owners

In August 2022, Congress increased the federal solar tax credit to a record 30% for homeowners that purchase & install solar PV systems between 2022 and 2032. The tax credit extends until 2035 unless Congress resends it. There is no maximum amount that can be claimed.

If your solar tax credit exceeds your tax liability for the year for which you install solar, then the additional tax credit amount can be claimed each year for up to 5 years in the future.

This tax credit includes both equipment and labor costs relating to assembly, installation, preparation, and interconnection. If you need a new roof prior to installing solar, then roof costs can also be claimed under the solar tax credit.

Solar lease and power-purchase agreements are not eligible for this tax benefit, as you will not own the solar energy system.

What Can Solar Home Review® Do For You?

Net Metering

Net metering is a regulatory incentive allowing Texas homeowners with grid-connected systems to sell their excess solar electricity to the grid for a credit. Likewise, when your system is not producing enough solar electricity to power your home, those net-metering credits are exchanged for electricity from the grid.

Local Incentives

Ask your Solar Home Review Specialist about the local incentives in your area, including utility specific and installer promotions.
