Feed-in-Tariffs Take a Hit Amidst Economic Uncertainty
Getting a take on how the continuing global economic downturn is impacting solar and renewables industries worldwide isn’t yet entirely evident as we head into 2012. Relying on solar market talk you’d think solar loggerheads, who remain effervescent in their optimism, have the game in the bag. Innovation and joint ventures abound, while audacious projects like Desertec’s CSP super-system (funded mostly by German companies) boldly projects that the first stage... Read More
Hermann Scheer’s Energy Imperative
Hermann Scheer articulated for many the energy issues of our time, differentiating the voice of vested interests from what we’ve needed to hear about how we use and create energy. He was the visionary that invited us to see the big energy picture and make it better. Scheer drew on the strength of available renewable technologies, providing the world with a new rationale for energy change, supporting his vision by spear-heading sustainable energy policies (most notably the... Dr. Hermann Scheer 1944-2010
I would like to pay tribute to Dr. Hermann Scheer who passed away at the age of 66 on October 14, 2010. He was unlike anyone in the world of renewable energy, a pioneer and a passionate advocate for a better world. Dr. Scheer was the embodiment of the renewable energy revolution – and we knew it was possible to achieve a world of ‘Energy for the People’ and he helped us to see it. Let us commit to the vision he carried and that we share, and continue his legacy... Read More
Scheer’s Revolution
I seem to have found inspiration to continue blogging this week – in the person of Dr. Hermann Scheer. He echoes the conviction of many, that solar energy is the “It” technology solution to our energy needs globally – that and wind power. I began blogging about solar energy in a bit of a bubble, in that I didn’t know much about what was going on globally but knew we needed to be shifting to solar energy if we were to create a safer world. No Nuclear... Read More
RENAC | Leveraging Renewable Energy Training
Germany is lending it’s rich experience with renewable energy development to instrumental global efforts that are seeing the quite and consistent expansion of knowledge, policy development and training on earth friendly energy applications that are striding forward needed change. IRENA, our new Renewable Energy Agency was spawned through Germany’s foresight and efforts, and although their sunny sky ratio is not as optimal as other parts of the world, their approach... Waldpolenz PV Plant | Juwi Group
Presently we are seeing unprecedented growth in a variety of solar projects around the world. Be it individual ventures, community utility programs or industry utility plants, solar energy solutions have been embraced as an economically sound and sustainable energy solution going into the future. I still find the tone of skepticism in articles on the topic of solar energy, as to whether it can realistically meet global energy demands to any degree. The arguments I encounter... Read More
Spotlight | Germany’s Solar Success
While other company’s in the solar sector my be struggling Germany’s solar industry is stable and growing. Germany remains the global leader in solar production for it’s country and the world. The 2009 Europe Photovoltaic show, hosted by Photon magazine, the leading pv mag, was held last week in Munich. This annual fair is held not for the viewing public but for industry players, investors and start ups wanting to get seen. Germany and a few other countries... Read More
