about

Solar Home Review is an educational home solar blog from Canada providing information on residential solar installation, solar products and services, and news on renewable energy projects and current energy issues from around the world. You’ll also find useful links for solar & renewable energy jobs, residential solar incentives and a solar business directory, including solar business reviews.

Solar, wind and renewable energies in general are suddenly in fashion in our post 2010 world, but dedicated individuals have been promoting these smart energy technologies for decades. Much credit is due technology developers, environmental activists and thinking politicians like the late Dr. Hermann Scheer, who have worked tirelessly to keep the concepts of sustainable energy like solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and other renewables a reality when it wasn’t fashionable.

For the individual, like you and me, solar panels and small wind turbines are applications that are easy to understand, truly hands-on solutions anyone can use. How complicated is the idea of a windmill generating energy or a solar panel absorbing light that converts to energy? These are human scale energy ideas that people anywhere from India to Japan can relate to. What is unique and complex however is this space in history we are living in, that has forced us to focus on how we are living on the planet, and consider fully the impending consequences of relying on oil, nuclear and coal on the truly massive global scale we are at.

I chose to be an advocate for solar energy and create this solar blog specifically because solar is accessible and easy to install, energy efficient, environmentally safe, reliable, low maintenance and easily adapted for small or large scale projects. Solar also provides opportunity for community business ventures, creating jobs – an immediate energy solution we can use today that positively impacts tomorrow. Thanks for visiting Solar Home Review and feel free to leave a comment or share your thoughts and questions. Your feedback is appreciated. energy video

A selection of energy movies and video that examines the politics of global energy demands, the energy industry, peak oil and the renewable energy revolution. The unified message Illustrated in many of these films is our tenuous relationship with oil and other finite energy sources as it relates to every facet of our daily lives, warning that our dependence on non-renewables provides no future.
